The story
Chevrolet advertised the L88 at 430 hp, less than the L89 by Over-Drive's account, though the true output was said to be about 560 hp, by Wikipedia's and Over-Drive's accounts. Wikipedia calls the heads lightweight; Over-Drive says aluminum.12

The 1967 L88 option price
Our ruling: Unresolved. The Black Book and Consumer Guide's table list RPO L88 at $947.90. Wikipedia and Over-Drive's text give $1,500, which Wikipedia ties to «the L88 engine and required options», while Over-Drive's own option list says $1,500 «plus other mandatory options», so Over-Drive does not agree with itself on what the $1,500 covered. All agree on 20 cars and 430 hp.
